General

Our industry first FilePayment solution combines file transfer and online payment to provide you and your clients with a smooth hassle-free exchange of work for money owed. This new-age digital version of payment on delivery lets you upload your work, set the price and send. FinalFile does the rest by collecting and processing your client’s online payment, all before making the files available for download.
FinalFile requires your client to pay the requested price before your work is made available for download. Without payment the file remains inaccessible for 5 days, after which time the FilePayment will expire.
FinalFile isn't just for freelancers. Anyone who sends their work via digital files and needs to accept online payment can use FinalFile to get paid on delivery. Here are some examples:
  • Accountant
  • Architect
  • Illustrator
  • Music Producer
  • Photographer
  • Web Designer
We process both Canadian Dollars ($CAD) and US Dollars ($USD).
As soon as your client’s payment for your FilePayment has been accepted you have been paid and the funds will be reflected in your FinalFile account. We require up to 5 business days to transfer your funds to your bank account.
Funds are deposited into your bank account based on your Country’s currency. If you have an American bank account, funds will be deposited in American Dollars $USD. Canadian bank accounts will have funds deposited in Canadian Dollars $CAD.
All file formats are accepted. Feel free to send any type of digital file you want.
There is a 2GB file size limit.
The minimum amount is $50. The maximum amount is $15,000.

The transactional fee is deducted from the total amount billed. For example: If you send a $100 FilePayment to your client, you will receive $96.80 in your bank.

For paid users, the fee will be billed monthly on a recurring basis from the date that the plan started.
No. The 2.9% + $0.30 transactional fee is a flat fee that includes all credit, debit, and other processing fees.

Integrating FinalFile with your business

It’s best to introduce FilePayment to your client at the start of your project when outlining your payment terms. It also doesn’t hurt to remind them at the end of the project when the work is approved and you’re ready to send your FilePayment.
On occasion a client may want credit in the form of 30, 60 or 90 days before having to pay for your work, but don't sweat it. Most clients are happy to receive a FilePayment and it shows by the short amount of time it takes them to pay.

Troubleshooting

You can cancel the FilePayment at any time prior to your client accepting it and paying for it. Once you’ve canceled, resend the FilePayment with the correct file.

Bank Account

FinalFile deposits your funds directly into your bank account. Without a bank account there is no where for the money that your client has paid to go.
In “My Account” look for the “Add Bank Account” button. You will need to provide the bank account number and the transit number.
Once you add a bank account FinalFile will send micro-deposits that will appear on your statement. The micro-deposit amounts are used to verify your bank account. Simply log in, go to "My Account" and click "Verify Account" under the Pending Bank Account section. Enter the two deposit amounts and submit. If the numbers match, your bank account will be made active and funds will be deposited directly to your new account within 3-5 business days.
You can add and verify the new bank account just as you did with the current one. Once the new account is verified, it will replace the current account. You cannot have 2 bank accounts registered at the same time.
Following the payment of a FilePayment, the funds will be instantly transferred from your client to your FinalFile account. Within 5 business days the funds will be transferred from your FinalFile account to your registered bank account.

Pay & Download

You can download your file up to three times. Contact the sender if you've reached your limit.
Our customer support team is available 24/7 to help resolve issues with a FilePayment, however FinalFile has a no refund policy.
You should have viewed early versions of the file prior to giving final approval. A freelancer should only use FilePayment to send the final version of the file after you have given final approval.
There is no fee for paying and downloading your file through FilePayment.
As soon as the payment has been accepted a receipt and confirmation number will be provided.
You can pay for a FilePayment with Visa, MasterCard, Interac or PayPal.
As soon as your payment has been accepted your file will be ready for download.
Please contact the sender to request that they resend the FilePayment with the correct file.
That is something that should be determined with the sender as per your conversations regarding pricing and tax. You can also review your information to find out if tax was included in the total price.
If the sender has included an invoice with the FilePayment, it is available to be viewed and downloaded on the checkout page.
